One of Hillyard's addresses on his MindSpring account was acad@mindspring.com.
- July 5, 1996 - Post to alt.test made through Zippo's newsfeed.
- July 7, 1996 - used in a post to eleven aquarium-related newsgroups (advertising his web site at http://www.mindspring.com/~hillyard/aaaa.html, on which the address was also mentioned)
- first post in which he took a swipe at me (before I knew who he was), and showing his MindSpring IP address (168.121.127.70) in the headers.
- Used in three harassing emails I received on July 7, 1996, again with IP address 168.121.127.70 showing in the headers again.
Six minutes after sending the last of those emails, the sender (either Hillyard or someone using his account) switched to using anonymous remailers to send copies of the same messages and increasingly obscene messages to me and my child, continuing to do so until MindSpring locked him out of his account later that night.
- Was listed by him in several web directories, along with his email address at the CDC and his work and home phone numbers.
